Though her gown was soaked and the fabric heavy and water-filled she was not dragged down to the murky depths of the stream but remained lightly drifting on the surface, while water and light played across her still face.
She was at ease now. Distantly she recalled the world from which she came, a world of confusion where everything she held dear had been stripped from her until nothing remained but blind emotion and she had seen no other way but to embrace the waters that would calm her and cradle her, like her mother had done when she'd been but a babe at the breast.
Her eyes were open. She needn't blink. She passed under the open sky, under the watery sun and the ghostly moon. She passed under trees and boats and through rocks and reeds until the world she came from had faded, it's colours run and dissolved in the waters she travelled.
